Congratulations to Trident Construction for their amazing project, Firefly Distillery. The project earned Metallic’s 2019 Building of the Year title in the Manufacturing / Production category. This is an exceptional metal structure and definitely not your average distillery. The creative use of interior space and next-level aesthetics will redefine the way you look at metal building and distilleries.
This project is a 19,000 sq. ft. metal building with rustic interior finishes and large open space for events. The structure includes a production area, retail and event space.
Why was metal selected over other construction material for this project?
Metallic’s building system was selected because it was the most cost-effective solution for seismic and hurricane implications. The “all-in-one” building envelope was also highly valued from a building warranty and maintenance perspective.
Describe the project goals and how metal was used to achieve those goals
Metallic’s building system allowed a balance between design and cost. The project goals included designing an aesthetically pleasing building that embraces a rural vernacular from the original barn distillery where FireFly was founded. The design of the building was completed by using 12 different metal building structures. This gave the design team the ability to create the old horse barn look.
