Energy Efficient Products
Metallic provides options to help your projects meet their sustainability needs, improving the environment, economy and community. As an industry leader in metal solutions, we’re dedicated to finding sensible building envelope solutions that the needs of our customers. Since metal construction projects require less material than traditional buildings, you can rest assure that it will lead to a more cost-effective solution. Additionally, the green characteristics of our products increase recyclability and durability.
Our product offering consists of several blanket insulation systems and a full selection of insulated panel solutions including architectural, horizontal, freezer/cooler and fire resistant applications. Below is a brief list of our offering. Please contact Metallic for additional product information by calling 866-800-6353 or by completing our brief contact form.
Recyclable and Durable
Roof and wall panels and other steel building materials are nearly 100 percent recyclable—not taken to landfills like non-metal construction materials. On average, metal buildings contain 30 to 50 percent recycled materials and reduce waste with their unmatched durability and resistance to elements.
Solar Reflectivity
Reflectivity is the deflection of solar energy from a surface. The SR value is a number from 0 to 1.0. A value of 0 indicates total absorbance. ENERGY STAR requires an SR value of 0.25 or higher for steep slope (more than 2:12) roofing and SR value of .64 or higher for low slope (2:12 or less) roofing. Roofs at 2:12 and greater have been proven to generate less of the heat island effect than lower-sloped roofs. Greater reflectivity abilities require less energy to cool a metal building. Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) is used to determine compliance with LEED requirements and is calculated according to ASTM E 1980 using values for reflectance and emissivity. To meet LEED requirements, a roofing material must have an SRI value of 78 or higher for low slope (2:12 or less) roofing. Metallic buildings can help engineer the right roofing solutions to help you meet LEED Certifications.
Colors for Metal Roofing
Metallic offers cool paint colors for all of our metal roof panels. When used properly, considering the environment and the slope of the roof, a cool roof can reduce energy consumption, providing significant cost savings while helping to mitigate urban heat islands. Many of Metallic’s cool colors meet the reflectivity and emissivity performance levels required by LEED and ENERGY STAR to mitigate the cause of UHIs and energy consumption overall. Insulated Metal Panels
Adding insulated metal panels on a project can also assist in reducing both energy consumption and energy costs—improving overall efficiency.
Retrofit Roofing
Metallic’s retrofit roofing systems use light-gauge framing in combination with metal roofing panels, to increase SR values and create water runoff solutions. NCI’s retrofit framing system is ideally suited for a wide-range of substrates including steel, wood or concrete. The retrofitting technique can also work for new construction as an economical and competitive alternative to prefabricated truss construction.
